Wood Material

Converting to Bump material

To really see the highlights though, we need some bump maps. There is an easy way to do the bump material. 1) Save the Wood material to a Mat file with the name "Wood Bump". 2) In the material properties "File" pannel, set "Embedded in Project File" and rename the material to "Wood Color". 3) Import the "Wood Bump" material File and Embedd it in the Project.

In the "Wood Bump" material, delete the last "Sine" ("Sine4") and "Spherical" ("Spherical3") nodes at the material root level. Now we are left with 6 attributes nodes at the leafs of the material tree. We will change their colors in sequence starting from the higher attribute down to the last one this order: black, 25% gray, 33%, 50%, 75% and white.

Drop this material onto the plank model and set it to Bump at 20%.

And this is the result in a choreography.

Now we're pretty much done with the color layer.

You may define different properties on different attributes overlays. In this case, the specularity being undefined on the upper attribute nodes are not in conflict with the specularity defined on this lower node.
