Constructing a beveled motor plate part III.

Now that we have one lug, we can triplicate it and
position them.
This tutorial uses Animation
Master V7.1. Before starting, click the "Snap manipulator
to grid" button to set it and set the "paste/extrude offset"
in the "options" panel to 0,0.
Step 12
The lug, if modeled at the same grid resolution as the motor plate will be way too big. Scale it down on both axes. Rotate it 90° around the X axis and position it so that the base aligns to the edge of the motor plate.
|
Step 13
Tweak the base's CPs position, alpha and gamma a little more to align them with the curvature of the motor plate edge.
|
Step 14
Select the complete lug, move the pivot at 0,0,0 and rotate 45° around Y axis. Copy-paste, move pivot at 0,0,0 and rotate 90° around Y axis. Paste, move pivot and rotate -90°. Paste, move pivot and rotate 180°. Voilà.

Result
The motor front plate is basically completed. A few more tweaks are necessary for the lugs to meet the plate more snugly but this is the basic idea.
